The Palaung State Liberation Front/Ta’ang National Liberation Army (PSLF/TNLA) fought the Burma army in Muse Township and Mong Ngor sub township from 10 to 11 July after a prolonged lull in fighting.

A PSLF/TNLA spokesperson said they clashed with regime troops near Nam Tawng in Muse Township on Tuesday, but she had no report of clashes in the sub township the previous day.

Near the township village, Ta’ang troops fought soldiers from the Light Infantry Battalion 257 from 9am to midday after the enemy entered the group’s area.

According to the spokesperson, about 70 enemy soldiers also entered the group’s area in Mong Ngor sub township. No one from the PSLF/TNLA was killed, but it’s not yet known if the regime suffered any casualties.

Tensions between the groups are high in both areas.

After the military coup, the PSLF/TNLA and other ethnic armed groups engaged in many battles with the Burma army in the ethnic areas, while many People’s Defence Forces showed their strength on the battlefield against the junta in the country’s regions

After the Burma army stopped its offensives against the PSLF/TNLA in northern Shan State, clashes dropped drastically, but since July the regime has become more active, leading to more fighting.
