A State Administration Council (SAC) airstrike that targeted a village in Ta’ang Self-administered Zone killed five civilians and injured six people in an area where no fighting was reported. The jet fighter carried out three airstrikes on Myo Thit in Namhsan Township in the afternoon of January 7.

“Three women and two males were killed during the airstrike,” a man from the village said, explaining that of the injured, three were in critical condition. He said the jet fighter dropped four bombs: two landed in the school and another near Phaya Laysu Pagoda. The jet fighter also sprayed the area with machine gun fire on one of its passes.

“Many houses were damaged by the airstrike, but I do not know the exact numbers,” he said.

Shwe Phee Myay News Agency reported that the deceased included children and teachers with the Ta’ang National Education Committee.

Following the attack, the entire village fled out of fear to their tea farm, jungle, and other areas.

Local news sources reported that the Burma army also flew airstrikes in the Mong Yaw area, killing four and wounding many people in Lashio Township on the evening of January 7.

TNLA reported that the regime launched an airstrike in Kon Hser in Namtu Township where no fighting has been reported on January 5. A person was wounded, and at least 15 houses were damaged.
