The bodies of three individuals were discovered inside garbage bags, which had been disposed of in a creek near a village in Muse Township, in northern Shan State.
Police reached out to the Myint Myat Paramy social volunteer team in Muse town, requesting assistance in retrieving the bodies. A team member reported that when they arrived at Ho Nawng village near the Muse – Jin San Jiao road on October 21 at 10 am, the bodies were severely decomposed, with the victims’ bones protruding. Additionally, the hands and legs of the two males and one woman were found tied with ropes.
The deceased have been identified as the male owner of a restaurant in Jin San Jiao, his son, and a woman who worked as a clerk in the business.
“The woman had been bound with electric wire, including around her neck and the rest of her body. The father and son had their hands and legs tied with motorcycle straps,” explained another volunteer from the team.
Since the military coup, there has been an increase in thefts and murders associated with organised crime syndicates in Muse. This has raised concerns among residents about their safety. The town has also experienced a growing problem with illicit drug use and gambling, given its proximity to the border with China and the many armed groups operating in the area.
