As Operation 1027 continues, Three Brotherhoods Alliance reported seizing more State Administration Council (SAC) positions in northern Shan State.
Since Friday, the alliance estimates seizing over 60 camps and outposts. Over the weekend, the alliance reported launching additional offensives against SAC targets in Nawngkio, Hsenwi, Mogok, Lashio, Chin Shwe Haw, and Mongkoe townships.
The offensive was named 1027, commemorating the date when the alliance members, Arakan Army (AA), Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA), and Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), initiated these attacks against SAC. This has been supported from the People’s Defence Forces and the Bamar National Liberation Army.
TNLA spokesperson Lt-Col Mai Aik Kyaw, speaking to NMG, stated that they started the offensives across the state last week in response to numerous SAC offensives within their territory this year, which often involved deliberate shelling and airstrikes on civilian villages.
“We need to protect our people,” Mai Aik Kyaw stated, and expand “our territories”. He highlighted another issue of increasing online gambling in northern Shan State, causing significant social problems due to the absence of the rule of law since SAC seized control of the country during the coup. Finally, he mentioned their ultimate goal was to dismantle the dictatorship.
On Sunday, TNLA’s 2nd Brigade seized a SAC camp in Kyauk Kyan after an early morning attack. At approximately 7:30 am, SAC conducted several airstrikes against the Ta’ang armed group.
During the same morning, the alliance captured SAC camps in Merchi Nort in Hsenwi Township, Yar Hkuk in Chin Shwe Haw area, Nam Yam in Mongkoe Township, and the Hsenwi Police Station. They also took control of two camps in Lashio Township that day and two camps the day before.
“We attacked the Burma army camp in Nawngkio township yesterday. Our soldiers seized the Burma army camp in Than Bo village of Nawngkio Township, located on the Pyin Oo Lwin – Mogok Road. Today, we also took control of their 13-mile camp (also known as the communication tower hill) in Namkham Township,” the TNLA spokesperson said.
The TNLA and Mandalay People’s Defense Force clashed with SAC troops near Ahtet Nyaung Kon in Mogok Township, Mandalay Region.
The Three Brotherhoods Alliance reported that the operation is ongoing and they’ll continue targeting SAC positions in collaboration with various armed groups that formed after the coup.
