Junta Airstrike Injures Three in Maungdaw

A junta airstrike has injured two residents, including 79-year-old U Nyo Maung, in northern Arakan State. The jet fighter dropped three bombs on Thayi Kon Bawng in Maungdaw Township on the morning of May 10, destroying four houses and a clinic in the village, said a local requesting to remain anonymous.
The man said the regime has frequently shelled the village, but despite this, people have tried to stay, however dangerous it was. But now, after the airstrike, they have been forced to flee.
“Even though we want to live together in one place, we cannot.”
Two women and one man were killed when two jet fighters assaulted King Chaung village situated on the road to Angu Maw in southern Maungdaw Township on May 14. Three women and two men were injured.
The Arakan Army clashed with the Burma military in another village near the Kanyin Chaung Economic Zone in the town of Maungdaw on the evening of May 15. Fighting escalated the next evening in Shwe Zer village tract near the town.
Many people fear for their safety with clashes reaching Maungdaw town.
